Chris Schriever Now Publisher,

Dale Read Editor Emeritus/Senior Writer of BEDROOM Magazine


July 23, 2010 - Dale T. Read President and CEO of The Marketing Arm Group, Inc. of Charlotte, NC and former owner of BEDROOM Magazine, and Christopher Schriever Principal of Blue House Design, LLC of Washington, DC, announced today that Mr. Schriever would assume the duties and responsibilities as Publisher of BEDROOM Magazine. Read, who created BEDROOM Magazine in February of 1995, will remain affiliated with the magazine as Editor Emeritus and Senior Writer for the mattress and bedding industry trade journal. Schriever, whose firm has designed and printed the magazine for more than six years, has purchased the publication and will immediately assume the duties of Publisher.

This transition will assure the magazine's sound financial footing and offer new energy and resources to help the publication address opportunities that arise from the recovering economy. This will also give Read the opportunity to place more focus on his role as President of the Specialty Sleep Association and author of the "Green Initiative", as well as pursue other opportunities within the mattress/bedding industry. As the Senior Writer for BEDROOM Magazine, Read will continue doing what he enjoys the most, namely advocating, through the publications editorial articles for the products and marketing offered by manufacturers and suppliers to retailers.

"Sixteen years ago there was no serious coverage of the mattress/bedding industry to the mattress retailer. I saw the opportunity to become a vocal advocate for the manufacturers and the suppliers to the retailers. Over the years we expanded the circulation from just under 5,000 retailers up to 22,000 at one point", said Read. Recent store closings and consolidations, as well as greater circulation focus, put retailer distribution for the Summer 2010 issue at 18,347.

Read noted the Blue House team had recently made new and vibrant changes to the look and format and had introduced new departments and features. "This team of young, high-energy, 20- and 30-something designers, copywriters, sales people and editors are bringing new life to this industry magazine", said Read. "I'll stick around as Senior Writer and work closely with the hundreds of manufacturers and suppliers who have become friends and colleagues. I'll still be telling their stories, but this new team will be running the show."

Schriever added, "I've enjoyed getting to know the industry over the past six years and am thrilled to be further invested with BEDROOM Magazine. We will continue in the tradition of providing coverage of current product insights, trends in marketing and the latest information from a myriad of mattress and bedding manufacturers. This information should help retailers better stock their showrooms with products that will sell and in turn improve margins."

The team is not revealing the details or terms of the deal, nor the specific transition of BEDROOM Magazine from The Marketing Arm Group to Blue House. The website  remains, for the present time, under the ownership and management of The Marketing Arm Group working in conjunction with the Magazine and Blue House.
