Simmons Bedding Company’s ComforPedic® memory foam
mattress brand has recently aligned with several
celebrity charity events as part of the company’s
ongoing efforts to expand community investment through
local and national charity auctions. ComforPedic®
mattresses, known for ComforPedic Advanced NxG® Memory
Foam which dissipates heat through improved airflow and
responds quickly to movements for ultimate comfort, have
been donated to high-profile philanthropic affairs
including William Shatner’s Priceline.com Hollywood
Charity Horse Show, Red Cross of Santa Monica’s Red Tie
Affair auction, City of Hope’s Spirit of Life® auction
and the George Lopez Golf Classic.
“We see these events as an extension of our long-time
commitment to leaving lasting, positive impressions on
the people and communities where we operate,” said Scott
Smalling, president of Simmons’ Specialty Sleep
division. “Every change in the lives of others makes our
efforts more worthwhile.”
William Shatner’s Priceline.com Hollywood Charity
Horse Show
ComforPedic® recently participated in the 21st Annual
William Shatner’s Priceline.com Hollywood Charity Horse
Show, benefitting Los Angeles charities for special
needs children including AHEAD With Horses, Camp Max
Straus, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Hollenbeck
Police Activities League (PAL), Starlight Children’s
Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, The
Painted Turtle and others.
More than 600 guests attended the Burbank, California
event which included a live performance from
Grammy-winning superstar Sheryl Crow, a press
conference, horse show and a Western Dinner Party.
During the evening’s live auction, Scott Smalling and
William Shatner auctioned off a ComforPedic® mattress
set which was the evening’s single highest-earning
auction item.
“Over the last 21 years, we have been able to help
thousands of young Angelinos thanks to the support we
receive from our generous sponsors…,” said William
Shatner.
Red Cross
of Santa Monica Auction
A
ComforPedic® mattress set was also featured at this
year’s Red Tie Affair, held April 9, in a silent auction
raising funds for the Red Cross of Santa Monica’s local
and national disaster prevention, preparation and
response efforts. The gala honored individuals who have
exhibited altruism, a helping nature and the desire to
give back to their community. This year’s honorees
included Betty White, Josh Duhamel and a team of doctors
from Saint John’s Health Center. In addition, the
company donated ComforPedic® Memory Foam pillows to the
10 Red Cross of Santa Monica volunteers that organized
the event.
“We were thrilled to have ComforPedic participate in
this years’ Red Tie Affair fundraiser gala and help us
bring in important funding,” said Marcia Caldirola,
Santa Monica Red Cross Director of Development. “We not
only appreciate the wonderful support for the Red Cross,
but we’ve experienced the ComforPedic products ourselves
and are lifelong fans!”
City of
Hope Auction
City of
Hope’s Spirit of Life® dinner, held during High Point
Market at the Grandover Resort, kicked off the
ComforPedic by Simmons™ online charity auction. A
ComforPedic® mattress set and an autographed
footstreamer signed by nearly 40 celebrities including
Jane Lynch, Teri Hatcher and Cloris Leachman, were
auctioned off to benefit City of Hope, one of the
nation’s leading centers for cancer research, treatment
and education.
George
Lopez Golf Classic
The George
Lopez Fourth Annual Celebrity Golf Classic, held last
month in Pacific Palisades, California, raised funds for
the George Lopez Foundation. Celebrity golfers joined
Lopez to further the charity’s mission of raising
awareness of kidney disease and organ donation and to
create positive change for underprivileged children and
adults with challenges in education and health. The
event featured dinner, entertainment and a live auction
featuring a ComforPedic® mattress set.
“These events have given us the opportunity to
partner with some of our local ComforPedic dealers to
help drive business at retail,” said Smalling. “This
type of brand awareness strategy has also allowed us to
get the ComforPedic name in front of new, unique
audiences while giving back to communities in need
across the country.”
