March
2, 2011 - The bed frame market, for a long
time rather low on choice and consumer
friendliness, is about to get a wake up
call:
Glideaway® Steel Products is
revolutionizing the category with the
introduction of two innovative steel bed
frames that solve common consumer problems
including adjustability, and storage space.
The company will debut the Hotelier and
Space Saver models at High Point Furniture
Market, April 2-7, 2011. Each frame is
designed to provide the consumer with
special features while maintaining the high
level of performance for which the company
is known.
“One of my goals when I came to Glideaway
was to raise the bar in the bed frame
category with more innovative and exciting
products,” said Glideaway National Sales
Manager Mike Stowe. “The ability to sell a
higher margin of accessories – especially in
today’s market – is important to our retail
partners. Over the last several months,
Glideaway has successfully provided our
customers with additional up-sell
opportunities with our sleepharmony pillows
and protectors. We believe these new bed
frames can also offer an additional way to
boost revenue.”
For years consumers were forced to take home
a stock bed frame the retailer provided
mattress sales. The new Glideaway bed frames
offer special features that are appealing to
people who are looking to maximize space in
their bedrooms or want the flexibility to
change the size of a bed frame in the
future.
The heavy duty all-steel Hotelier bed frame
adjusts to fit full, queen, king and
California-king size bedding. The base’s top
corner brackets are easy to secure and
ensure a stable, no-rocking, foundation and
its cutting edge design provides maximum
support.
For consumers looking to maximize every inch
of their bedroom, Glideaway has developed
the Space Saver bed frame which offers a
full 14 inches of under-the-bed storage
space from floor to frame. In addition to a
folding design which allows for ease of
storage, the Space Saver features an
all-steel and welded construction to create
a super-strong foundation and eliminate the
need for a box spring.
“Glideaway has been a leading metal frame
and support manufacturer for 50 years. In
the late 1950’s, my Uncle Harry invented the
first slatless metal rail system that helped
put Glideaway on the map,” said Glideaway
Executive Vice President of Sales Ron
Fredman. “We sell 35 of the top 100
furniture retailers bed frames manufactured
in our St. Louis, MO factory.”
Founded in the 1920s as a furniture retailer
in Illinois, Glideaway is a full-service
bedding manufacturer and supplier to
full-line furniture retailers, specialty
sleep shops, and web-based e-tailers. Their
products include a complete line-up of Visco
and latex mattresses, power bases, bed
frames, day beds and trundle beds, pillows,
mattress protection products, headboards and
juvenile beds. Based in St. Louis, the
company employs more than 140 people in its
120,000 square-foot manufacturing,
distribution, and showroom complex.
