Sleepharmony Expands Mattress Protector Lineup with Full Encasement Products

New Accessories Line Debuts at High Point Market

October 14, 2010  - Specialty sleep manufacturer Glideaway® Sleep Products has introduced its first full-encasement mattress protector as part of their revamped accessories line aimed at expanding high-margin sales growth opportunities

Promoted with the tagline “Protect Your Sleep,” the sleepharmony™ Deluxe Full-Encased Mattress Protector will make its High Point Market debut October 16-21 at the Glideaway showroom space IHFC M-531.

“Mattress protection products are a strong growing market and offer increased market opportunity for our retailers,” said Glideaway President Carmi Fredman. “While our full-encasement product builds on the success of our standard protectors and rounds out our line, it is more over aimed at helping our customers maximize sales.”

While many protectors only cover the top and sides, the new sleepharmony Deluxe Full-Encased Mattress Protector covers all 6 sides of a mattress while providing a protective barrier between the consumer and any allergens that might thrive in an unprotected mattress. With an internal zipper, it offers a waterproof, breathable barrier that allows air to flow in and out while protecting the mattress from dust mites, bed bugs, mold, and other allergens.

The new sleepharmony protectors are offered in two heights – a 10 inch that covers a 10-13 inch mattress and a 14 in that covers a 14-18 inch mattress. They are machine washable and available in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and California King sizes for full encasement and with a suggested retail price range of $45.99 - $79.99.

Warranties and odors are two very compelling reasons to invest in a quality mattress protector for every mattress in the home. Machine-washable mattress protectors keep the mattress free from spills, stains, and odors, and help to keep warranties valid. This is especially important for children's beds, as young children often wet, get sick in or spill food and drinks on their beds.

Protecting a mattress from these messes also helps prolong the life of the mattress. Stains that permeate deep into the comfort layers of a mattress often end up creating unpleasant odors that are very difficult to remove. Liquids from spills and body fluids penetrate deep into the memory foam, cotton, and polyester fiberfill layers that make a mattress comfortable. Even if a stain is removed from the exterior fabric of the mattress, these deep down stains emit odors that often never go away.

Glideaway introduced the sleepharmony brand earlier this year in a move to position itself as the “Target” of value bedding products in the U.S.  By evoking spa-like imagery, the company promotes the brand as offering a high level of design and performance at a valuable price point.

Founded in the 1920s as a furniture retailer in Illinois, Glideaway is a full-service bedding manufacturer and supplier to full-line furniture retailers, specialty sleep shops, and web-based e-tailers.  Their products include a complete line-up of Visco and latex mattresses, adjustable bed bases, bed frames, pillows, mattress protection products, headboards and juvenile beds. Based in St. Louis, the company employs more than 140 people in its 185,000 square-foot manufacturing, distribution, and showroom complex.
