June
9, 2009 - The
non-profit Specialty Sleep
Association (SSA) today
announced that 14 top bedding
manufacturers have joined the
group with a commitment to
increase awareness of the
specialty sleep industry while
initiating an SSA Green
Initiative to identify, define
and standardize how mattress
manufacturers and retailers
label “green” and natural sleep
products. The initial goal is to
create definitions specific to
the bedding industry of terms
such as “Green,” “natural,”
“all-natural” and “organic” by
assimilating and organizing
existing, accepted standards.
The ultimate goal will be to
create a certification program
based on these definitions.
"The SSA is thrilled to welcome
such a diversified group of
A-list industry leaders to our
organization,” said Dale Read,
president. “All are taking an
active role in the SSA’s Green
Initiative and had attended our
recent Conference on the
subject.”
